We have arrived in North Dakota!
We are staying in Dickinson at Camp of the Heart RV Park. It’s the same place we stayed at the very first night we left Minnesota on June 8, 2025. A long time ago…
They had another long ride today beginning at 7:30 am and they arrived a bit earlier at 3:00 pm. It was 72 miles today. And it was HOT! Depending on where you look, it’s almost 100 degrees or it is over 100 degrees. Doesn’t really matter at that point because it is all hot.
They met up with another biker traveling from Bar Harbor to Anacortes, Robert from Seattle. He is one of the people that Michael, who we met a few days ago, told us to be on the lookout for. It really is a small community and so very exciting to meet all these bad ass bikers. Whether they are going coast to coast or just state to state. They are incredible.
Joe and Bill biked through Beach, ND (the first stop once crossing the border from Montana to North Dakota). Next they biked through Sentinal Butte, where there is an awesome photo of the store/gas station/Greyhound bus stop. The road from Beach to Sentinal Butte was brand new road. It was a dream ride. They then went back onto I-94 East (low traffic, wide shoulders, etc). Then they rode through Medora, ND (famous for their shows) and back to Hwy 10 until they reached Dickinson. They got some iconic photos of the oil pumpjack, the ND badlands moving into the rolling hills.
Neptune and I had a busy day together. We packed up the RV, drove 70 miles to Dickinson where we got gas (with the RV attached!) and parked at a store to replenish the fruit and ice cream bars (with the RV attached!). Nothing better after a ride than fresh fruit and ice cream. We set up the RV and prepared some meals before taking a breather before the bikers arrived. It is so hot that our walk was only about 30 minutes. There is a beautiful river flowing by our site and we watched a kayaker go by. Next time we’re bringing our kayaks. We watched the riders come into the camp. Honestly, Neptune was more interested in the burrito someone threw on the ground, but he came around when he was denied the trash food.
Tomorrow is a shorter day which is good because it will still be quite hot before storms and cooler weather rolls in on Friday.
