Kill Bill…And Joe

Published on 8 July 2025 at 21:00

Wow.  What a day the bikers had, and not in a good way.  Some of what I heard from them “That was BS!” “It’s horrible” “Worse than the 100 miles”

They started out early, before 7 am.  It was a 77-mile trip, but the wind.  The Wind!

Our friend, Chris, biked with them for 46 miles to Glendive, MT.  He stayed in Glendive while Joe and Bill continued to Wibaux, MT.  Our last night in Montana! Joe got some photos of the train art which I’ve added.  It’s become my new obsession to pay closer attention as I pass by trains.

It took them 9 ½ hours total from site to site.  Their total time of actual biking today was 7 and ½ hours.  According to the stats, they peddled almost as many times today as they did when they biked the 100 miles - and that was more than 20 miles than what they biked today.  A lot of it was on I-94 East.  There wasn’t a lot of traffic on the interstate and the shoulders were better than when they were on MT 200 earlier today, which had no shoulders. One downside to traveling on the freeway was the sand piles that they had to try to avoid.

Joe and Bill arrived at the camp site about 4:15 and looked like hell. (That’s my medical opinion) They took some time to rest, drink water and V8, and then took advantage of the RV shower by setting up a chair and hosing themselves off.

From today’s photos, Neptune apparently napped a lot in the RV today.  Bill took a picture of him this morning when he was getting his spot ready to sleep and I have a couple of him napping while waiting for the bikers to arrive this afternoon.

Joe is getting quite the tan lines.  He’ll be all sorts of stripes by the end of August!

Tomorrow is a few miles less and the wind should not be directly in their faces at 14 – 25 miles an hour.  Looking forward to North Dakota and closer to our vacation at home. Thank you so much to our family and friends who keep us going, especially during the weird and/or challenging times.
