We went to Glendive, MT to hike around Makoshika State Park. Unfortunately, the majority of the park was closed due to fire from lightning on July 3rd. We didn’t see any obvious signs of fire where we were. We took about a 45 minute walk on the the Bluebird Trail, the only trail open at the park until at least July 10th. It was a nice walk with a bit of the Badlands. It was lovely to smell the sage. We were wishing we knew a paleontologist to tell us if we were missing anything exciting. We headed back to the RV site via the grocery store. Time to stock up for another week of riding.
On our way back from Glendive to Circle I took many photos of the fantastic tagging on the BNSF trains. I only included a few, but if you want more, let me know. I have tons of cool pictures.
We met a father and daughter team who are traveling/biking the opposite way – from Bar Harbor to Anacortes. They started mid May and are planning a 60 day trip. It was great to share information about our respective upcoming trips. Michael is riding for NAMI (National Alliance on Mental Illness), and we would love people to support him/donate as able. What an amazing organization. Donate.nami.org – Michael Arsenault
Chris, the biker from Germany, is staying at the city park here in Circle, MT and came by for hamburgers, baked beans, chips and beer. We also added some of that huckleberry BBQ we got from Big Spring Brewery in Lewistown, MT. It was delicious.
We had a nice, relaxing summer evening. One of the people we met earlier in Circle even brought by his Great Dane, Brigadier, to play with Neptune this evening.
Starting out with a 78 mile ride tomorrow. It is getting hot now so plan to leave early.
Thank you for all your support and messages!
