We had a nice relaxing day at Abel Mountain RV Park. There are miles of trails behind us and we went for a couple mile hike this morning. Neptune was the boss the whole time. I did have to carry a spider web stick which, if it worked even a little, was well worth wielding. Too bad Neptune wasn’t taller so he could take them all on.
The White River is low behind us, so we don’t hear it very well, but it is still beautiful to look at. You can see the bridge in the background that we crossed to get to the hiking trails.
After our walk we headed into Randolph, VT to get gas and groceries. It’s a small town with lots of small shops. We saw the library and got a photo for you, dad. We did not go in, although it was open today. Sorry dad! Is it still the thought that counts?
After we got back to the RV we had a very nice, relaxed afternoon. I was finally able to catch up on my RV site diary and start a book my mom gave me, The House of Sky by Ivan Doig. I’m only about 40 pages in but can tell I am going to love it. It’s a memoir about Ivan and his family living and growing up in Montana. The book came out in the late 1970s and is considered a classic. I can see why many people have read and enjoyed it before me. Joe is working on his bike route and trying to confirm the roads and trails and directions. He is really trying to avoid a day like yesterday again. He had 54 bike rides without getting lost in the wilderness, so I’m thinking he should be ok these last 6 rides. Especially with all the checking/double checking he’s doing.
We’re enjoying a simple dinner tonight before heading out of Vermont and into New Hampshire tomorrow. Thank you for all your support. We really appreciate it.
