We’ve made it to New York!! Joe was up early and took a photo of the campsite next to us. The grandfather next door was already up at 5:30 am with a fire going. No Irish Goodbye for that guy with his bright beacon of flame.
The ride was flat, uneventful, and Joe rode through beautiful vineyards and the southern shore of Lake Erie. Today was a 43-mile day. He made it in 3 hours. Our 12-mile rides together are going to be so lame.
Tonight, we are staying at our very first KOA campsite in Westfield, NY. It’s not too busy today/a Sunday. They do have lots of activities for kids, a store and would even deliver a pizza to the RV! We have the awning out and we are enjoying the cool breeze this afternoon. It was very nice to be able to sit outside and enjoy the fresh air. It’s been so hot and muggy lately.
We went to a park across the road hoping to put our feet in Lake Erie. Unfortunately, we were unable to get close enough to the lake for that. They are serious about their fences here. We did get some good pictures of the clear lake by standing on a rock and a bench.
Tomorrow, we head further into New York. We are looking forward to seeing more of the state. So far, we’ve found it’s beautiful wooded area and has a lot of grapes/wineries. We are really learning a lot about places we’ve never been and are continuously amazed at the different terrain, habitats, industries, etc throughout the northern US.
