THE Ohio State – Day 3

Published on 6 August 2025 at 21:00

It was the shortest ride in a long time.  Joe even slept in before his 38-mile ride to Vermillion, OH. He found a nice sized spider outside the camper, hopefully it was not from the walk yesterday.   It was a nice, easy bike ride today.  The road was flat, and Joe was relaxed during his travels.  Back home, that would have been a long ride! Even though he was stopped by a train, Joe still arrived at our campsite at about the same time that Neptune and I were leaving Clyde, OH.

We are staying at an RV park along the Vermillion River. It’s a huge RV park.  We took Neptune for a walk around before getting into the truck and going to town.  We went into Vermillion for a nice walk and to enjoy the beautiful day.  We put our feet in Lake Erie and spent some time just looking out at the water.  It reminded us of Lake Michigan with the warm, sandy beaches and boats in the distance

We found a cool place to stop, Woodstock Café.  It was everything I imagined it would be.  Lots of cool art and the hummus plate and beers were delicious.  We browsed the shops in town.  There are a lot of small shops for tourists.

Our next stop was Papa Joe’s.  It’s a family-owned pizza business that has been around 50+ years.  The current owner, Johnny, and his wife are hoping that their kids take over some day and that it’s around another 50 years.    We got a pizza to go with enough for leftovers.

As we were leaving town we had one more food stop - Joe’s friend, Steve, recommended that we stop at Dairy Dock for ice cream and it did not disappoint.  A great refresher for an 80’s degree day.  We’re always up for food recommendations!

Tomorrow is one of the longest rides yet, 80+ miles.  We’ll be settling down early tonight and looking forward to a good ride on a sunny day.
