Hello! We had a great time off from traveling. It was a bit weird not to feel the house shake whenever anyone walks and it was a pleasant surprise to put glasses away without worrying if they are going to be shaken and broken.
We were able to see family and a few friends and neighbors. It was so wonderful to hug our people. We enjoyed hamburgers on the grill, thanks to Bill and my sister. with much loved family. And Joe grilled his favorites almost every day. Thank you to Dean for the refill of banana bread, Ott who keeps our lawn mowed and Paul who is always available for biking and household assists.
We spent most of our time getting ready to leave again. Restocking, packing, going through and addressing the 6 weeks of mail, etc. Joe did make it to Costco a couple of times. It really is one of his happy places. The dryer conveniently broke while we were home, so Joe added that repair to his to do list. He also repaired the trailer lights and washed the truck, trailer and dog. They all really needed it. So all in all, a great rest from biking, but busy catching up on all the other things.
Neptune was in heaven at home. He spent as much time as possible on the deck and otherwise laid on his bed in front of the TV watching the tour with us or just napping.
We left for the next half of our adventure this afternoon. It was a nice trip into Wisconsin with A LOT of corn fields. We are staying at Goose Island Campgrounds in Stoddard, WI. They have many places to walk and the scenery of the Mississippi River outside our window is awesome. We met 3 bikers who are traveling from Chicago to La Crosse and will be taking the train back to Chicago tomorrow. They are self supported and sleeping in one of the many tent sites here.
Joe is leaving about 7 am for his 75+ mile trip tomorrow. It is thundering and raining here right now, but we’re hoping it gets it all out of its system before the ride tomorrow.
Thank you to everyone for reading our blog and checking in. We are fortunate to be able to spend our summer traveling and living out a lifetime dream. And we couldn’t do it without all of our peoples. Thank you!
More biking adventures are coming tomorrow...
