Here we are. Final ride into a rest week at home. We are very much looking forward to time at home and at the same time will miss our daily adventures.
Joe left a bit after 7 am for his ride into Waite Park. One thing he noticed was the sign at our RV park to beware of alligators??? Luckily, we did not find one while taking Neptune on a walk. The humans would have been left behind to deal with the crocodilian.
Joe started on the Central Lakes Trail from Alexandria to Osakis. At Osakis the trail changed into the Lake Wobegon Trail and Joe said he noticed a difference between the trails.
On the Lake Wobegon Trail he passed through Memoryville near Melrose, MN. It is a highlight for riders on the trail and is an area with things from the past. There was an old gas station, a Hamburger Boy sign, etc. He took some pictures, including the railroad themed items at this very interesting area.
Joe met up with his friend Steve on the Lake Wobegon Trail about 7 miles outside of Waite Park. What a great surprise to see a friend waiting for him on the trail.
Neptune and I completed all the usual RV breakdown steps. It was nice to be able to pack up knowing that we’d be home and not have to set up completely once we arrived. We stopped at a rest area before connecting with Joe and were able to take a nice walk. Neptune discovered an unknown creature in the bushes that had him quite interested for a while.
Neptune and I timed the meeting at Rivers Edge Park perfectly and Joe biked in soon after we arrived. Neptune was very excited to see Joe. And Joe was looking good coming in.
We made it home by 3 pm and have been busy doing laundry and emptying out the RV. We just need to remember what we take out, so we remember to put it back before we leave again next week.
Neptune is very happy to be home and went back to his usual spot- laying in the sun on the deck. When the humans came inside, he found his next usual spot on his bed. He is very tired from all his travels.
We had Chinese food for dinner with our daughter and niece tonight and are very much looking forward to seeing more family in the next couple days. Joe and I are going to spend the next few days going through mail, doing errands and prepping for the 2nd half of our trip. It will be a very busy, quick trip home.
We are going to take a pause on the blog until next week. We’ll be back on Wednesday, July 23rd. Take care of yourselves and as always, thank you. Your support means so much.
