Meandering Like Bears

Today was the longest bike ride at 76.8 miles for both this trip and as a personal record.  He beat his old record by a mile (MS 150 Ride).  Joe started before 7 am knowing it would be a long day.  He stayed on Hwy 200 for almost 30 miles.  As he continued down the Pend Orielle River, he was able to get some cool pictures of the river and a field with the clouds coming down on them.  Luckily, he missed the rain again today.  Those 2 pictures were taken near Clark Fork, ID.  One other thing that cannot be missed is the mile-long collection of old cars.  The pictures hardly do it justice.  It was an amazing sight to see.  Joe entered Montana about 9:30 am.  We both agree that there is just something special about Montana.  Neptune and I passed Joe as he was traveling down MT -Hwy 56 and about 8 miles from his next turn at US-2.  We met up at a rest area at the corner of Hwy 56 and US-2.  You can see that Neptune knew exactly who it was coming towards him.  His tail about wagged off his body.  Neptune and I continued on to Libby and began the RV set up.  You can see that Neptune is bored with this RV thing already so took a nice nap in the sun.  One of the games we play is what fell apart as we were driving.  Today there was a random screw on the floor that we needed to find its home.  I have started walking around the RV with my screwdriver before leaving each morning because there is always something about ready to fall off, if it hasn’t already.  Once we got settled Joe and I went for a drink at Cabinet Mountain Brewing Company.  We had a nice little charcuterie board along with our beers.  It was sunny and 70’s and the perfect way to spend an hour or so. After our snack we drove up to Kootenai Falls on the Kootenai River.  It was amazing!!  We went about 6:00 pm and there were very few people there.  Joe delighted in freaking me out on the swinging bridge.  It was worth it.  (But not for a dog like Neptune so he stayed behind in the RV) It was a nice meandering walk to the bridge and then to the falls.  For the geology/paleontology fans, I took a picture of some stromatolites which I found fascinating with their rings.  We got back to the RV and Neptune was kind enough to be my mouse pad.  He’s a good boy.

Tomorrow is a rest day and we’re planning a bit of bike maintenance and a hike.
