Mountain Passes and a Rail Trail

Published on 18 June 2025 at 21:00

Joe left this morning before 6:30 am.  He took a nice photo of the RV in the morning. Today’s bike ride was through Wauconda Pass.  It was a 10 mile climb.  There was bright sun, but felt colder with the elevation of 4300 feet.  He carried 4 water bottles but needed to refill about 12 miles from the end.  He stopped at Madonna’s Bar and Grill where the bartender was nice enough to fill them up and even added some ice.  I passed Joe about 5 miles from the end and we met up at the RV site for the night.  We hiked a couple miles on the Ferry County Rail Trail.  We ended up on the gravel section, but there is a lot of paved area and the total trail is about 26 miles.  Neptune powered through and even had enough energy to hop in the truck when it was over.  Joe and I dropped Neptune off at the RV and then went for a beer at Republic Brewing Company.  Tomorrow is a big day- the highest pass in Washington.  Joe’s got it!  He’s a super star!

“Superstar!!!” I love reading about your adventures and seeing all of the pics. Susannah it sounds like you are doing a great job pulling that camper all over the mountains. Neptune is the best. Joe you are doing great.
