After a good night’s sleep Joe left for his next leg of the trip before 7 am, a 70 mile ride. He took a nice picture of the water tower in Casselton before he left. It was mid 60’s with a 10 mph north wind. The wind didn’t hurt him, but it didn’t help. “More of a quartering wind”.
Neptune and I woke up to a stronger wind. Our home was rocking! I could tell it was going to be one of those days on the road with wind a factor when pulling the trailer.
Joe entered Minnesota at 8:27 am. He knows the exact time because he received a call from Steve welcoming him to Minnesota just after he crossed the Red River in Moorhead. Joe has a picture of his bike in Barnesville, MN, which is where he stopped for 2nd breakfast.
Neptune and I had a relatively uneventful ride. Definitely learning to pull over to the right a bit and slow down before a semi passes. I’m learning to drive slow (ugh).
We passed Joe about 3 miles before our next stop. We headed to the park and came up against some serious road construction. I took a screen shot of the map showing in blue where we needed to be and then in red the 2 options we had to get there. There were literally working excavators and loaders on the road that I was “supposed to” use. It was a good day for Joe to be close behind me. We met up and he settled the bike in the RV while we tried to figure out how to get to the park. We could see it, but the detours were not allowing us to get to it. Joe called the Sherin Park people (aka city hall) and they were able to give us updated directions to get to where we needed to be. Basically, the directions were 1) go down the dirt road that has the sign that says No Thru Traffic, 2) drive into the parking lot of the medical clinic, 3) head into the assisted living parking lot, 4) go around the swimming pool and 5) drive down the newly created temporary dirt road and then go left into the park. WHAT?!? We followed the directions (luckily Joe was able to get out and temporarily remove the construction cones for me) and made it. PHEW!
We set up pretty quickly and took Neptune for a walk. There is a ½ mile Peace Trail that was nice and woodsy. On the way out we saw the used book sale semi, but it was closed. There is also another pool by us! (Bill, you left too early) It started to rain and we headed back to the RV so Joe and Neptune could nap. Joe also found our new companion, Yellow Floyd the Iguanadon. I plan to superglue him somewhere in the rv to travel with us going forward.
After Joe’s nap we walked around again during a brief break in the rain. It’s an interesting set up because we are basically in a city park in the middle of the city. It’s a Tuesday night so there is only one other camper here.
Tomorrow looks to be a chilly start in the 50’s. We’re looking forward to getting to Alexandria and our final sleep before we are home. We think that Neptune will probably sleep for a couple days. And then we’ll drag him on the other ½ of the adventure.
Thank you all for reading and checking in. We appreciate you 😊

That pelican statue is amazing and I think I have to travel there someday. Welcome back to MN!
